Dude, you worked for NRA?! That sounds like a cool job. What did you do for 'em, other than spending my dues?
I find "Dude!" is a great way to start a post.

I was associate editor of American Rifleman magazine.
If you read an Armed Citizen between January 1990 and June 1994, I compiled it.
Oh yeah...
"other than spending my dues?"
Well I sure as hell wasn't going to work for free!

Why do you say it worked for the better?
The Armed Citizen?! That is the best and most important part of the magazine. Heretofore I worshipped you for bring peace and security to the People's Republic of Irwinville. Now I actually think you're a pretty cool guy.
So do all of those stories come from local papers? Does your former office have a subscription to every paper in the country, or is there a service you use to look these up, or are they sent in by members?
"other than spending my dues?" I am humbled to think that I may have helped to support your Benevolent Regime in some small way.
