If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

The Gadsden kid won. Interestingly, the school mentions that he additionally had "gun and alcohol patches" on his backpack. Given their gross misinterpretation of the Gadsden Flag, I wonder what the "gun and alcohol" patches were? Maybe "ATF should be a convenience store".

I just came to the realization that they unironically told him that  "freedom is slavery"

And they call us crazy for thinking this is crazy.
Then they start arguing over whether or not children were actually present.

BREAKING: Footage shows Mayor of Burbank, California (D) getting a spanking from a drag queen at a Democrat campaign event over the weekend which included children.

He also previously defended giving kids pornographic books in schools.

I was completely unaware of this situation. Apparently we have just paid a $6 billion ransom to Iran to release some hostages.

https://twitchy.com/brettt/2023/08/10/republicans-pounce-on-biden-admin-for-releasing-6-billion-to-iran-for-hostages-n2386177

^^^According to what I just saw on the NBC network news, the US did not pay anything from US assets.  The US released $ 6 billion of oil revenue paid by South Korea to Iran for oil.  That $ 6 billion was tied up in US sanctions against Iran. So it is not like the US wrote a $ 6 billion check to Iran.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/iran-releases-four-americans-from-evin-prison-b396ee09

From the article

Iran has freed five Americans from a notorious Tehran prison with the understanding that five of its own prisoners and billions of dollars in frozen revenue from energy sales would be released in return, U.S. and Iranian officials said.

The official Islamic Republic News Agency said more than $10 billion would be released from accounts in South Korea and Iraq, and that under the agreement, the Americans wouldn’t be permitted to leave Iran until the funds become available in Iranian accounts in Qatar. A U.S. official dismissed  Iran’s claim, saying that only the $6 billion in funds held in South Korea was under discussion. The official added that in exchange for having these Americans move to house arrest, no Iranian prisoners in the U.S. have been released.

Iran will not be receiving any sanctions relief, and in any instance where we would engage in such efforts to bring Americans home from Iran, Iran’s own funds would be used and transferred to restricted accounts such that the monies can only be used for humanitarian purposes…permitted under our sanctions,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters on Thursday. “We will continue to enforce all of our sanctions. We will continue to push back on Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region and beyond,” he added.

About that

Quote
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi says his country will use $6 billion in unlocked funds 'wherever we need it' – rejecting a limitation in negotiations with the U.S. that limits the money to 'humanitarian purposes.'

Raisi's comments, in a sit-down with NBC News in Tehran, comes a day after the Biden administration announced the extraordinary deal that would free five detained Americans, while unlocking the funding for Tehran.

In the interview, Raisi told the network's Lester Holt that the needs of the Iranian people would be determined 'by the Iranian government,' after being asked specifically if it would be for humanitarian purposes including food and medicine, in a country hit by crippling inflation amid economic sanctions.

'This money belongs to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and naturally, we will decide – the Islamic Republic of Iran will decide – to spend it wherever we need it. How to spend our money of course, it is under the authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran,' he said.

Pressed by Holt that it could be used for 'more than humanitarian purposes,' he underlined: 'Humanitarian means whatever the Iranian people need, so this money will be budgeted for those needs. And the needs of the Iranian people will be decided and determined by the Iranian government.'

Doesn't mean it won't be used for Humanitarian purposes but this doesn't look good it will

Iranian president laughs at the Biden administration by saying he'll use $6 BILLION from 'hostage' deal on whatever he wants - and not just on humanitarian trade as the US promised

So red-pilled Russell Brand is getting hit with the "me too" right now. Some of it is twenty years old. This seems a telling quote:

Quote
The women who came forward added that they decided to speak out about Brand’s sexual abuse after he gained popularity on social media platforms with millions of followers. They claimed they only wanted to address the allegations after being approached by media reporters.

Somewhat related, Ken Paxton has been acquitted of all his charges.

There was talk that the Bush Dynasty was among those behind it.

Banana Republic, man.

As we've said before, we have no problem with the "art form" of drag being performed in nightclubs for an over-21 audience. No one cared until they started bringing drag queens into public schools for Drag Queen Story Hour and holding "family-friendly" drag brunches for the kids.

Once again, "conservatives" endorse what most Americans of the past would have rightly recognized as repulsive sexual perversion.

They don't need to hide the grift because they know they will get away with it, and there is no one to stop them.

Those churchgoers are not necessarily conservatives.  Lots of leftist churches out there from what I hear.

IMO, I don't see that quote as endorsement.  Perverse people are going to do perverse things and society has established specific places for that where kids are not supposed to be allowed.  In the "old days", perverse things still existed, but they were on the bad side of town or some other place that normal people didn't go and shunned.

Other than boycotts, is there anything else that can be done to reduce the influence of this push for ESG scores?  Seems to me that every corporation should be taking steps to avoid getting caught up in that, but I imagine it the incentives look attractive to some.
