Title: Black Friday deals.
Post by: Fly320s on November 18, 2012, 01:51:22 PM
For those who choose to participate in the madness, I offer this thread. I will abstain, as shopping on Black Friday is against my religion.

Best Buy is offering a Toshiba 40" LCD TV for $180.  :O

That's actually very tempting. I imagine you'll have to brave the crowds to try to get one, instead of say, ordering online and just picking it up at your leisure.

There is no amount of electronic whizbangitry that could induce me to drag my ass out of bed that early.

Plus apparently I work for the only company in the world that doesn't take off that day.

I'd consider jostling a crowd for a sick deal on a 55 inch LCD TV.  Otherwise I'm staying in bed!

My "Black Fiday" deal? Hook my thumb in my underpants, burp, eat good food, and not worry about a damned thing for a few hours a year.

Was talking to SWMBO about this last night....  I might actually get up early (well, earlier anyways, I'm normally up at 0415 when I have to go to work) and do a drive by of the local best buy at about 0300...   Crazy line?  drive bakc home and go to bed.

No.

But anybody who dresses like a typical white person is racist.  Especially if they are white.

stay safe.

I read that Barnes and Noble will be selling their Nook Touch e-reader for $39.  It's a pure e-reader, but a good one.  We got one for both of our sons (10 and 12) when the price was $99, and felt like we got our money's worth.

Nope, warehouse is open.

Forget the fact that the vast majority of trucking companies are closed and it's always one of the slowest days of the year. But open we are.

Only place I have any interest in is one of the local gun shops has black Friday sales, and they do it right going down the line and making you down for what you want from the gun counter. Don't open till 8, line doesn't start forming till 6 or 7 usually.  Don;t have off this year and nothing in the flyer was all that appealing anyway.

I've thought it would be fun to accidentally drop a smoke canister in the middle of one of those crowds. Of course,  I don' have any of those, or any thing like that.

Was it last year somebody pepper sprayed the crowd to get to the item they wanted?

Swung by Walmart just this week and the prices on basic LCD 40" and 50" TVs were the lowest I had seen.  I think it was $400 for the 40".  At least I know if mine ever breaks, it will be cheaper to replace.

Picked up a Sanyo 50" LCD  at SAMs for 528 today.
Sprung a boner when I saw the 90 inch LED tv.

I remember a couple of folks at least were talking about wanting a black powder revolver a while back. Cabelas has a good deal on the Pietta 1851 Navy revolver right now. It's the brass frame one, so no hot loads, but they're still fun to shoot.

I think gun demand is still high because of the election, causing black Friday deals to be less spectacular than usual. At least, that's the way it looked based on the CabelaProMountainAdemy adds I got in the mail.

Saw a Black Friday ad for a shotgun for $309.99.  ;/
I bought that same model shotgun from that dealer a few months ago for $189.99.

Is it racist if a Black person boycotts Black Friday?  ???
