Has anyone watched the Peaky Blinders series on Netflix? I highly recommend it. I noticed it a while back and can't get enough of it. There are 5 seasons, I've just started watching the fourth, so please no spoilers.
It's set in Birmingham in the early 1920s. The main characters are all WWI vets, and heavy-drinking gypsies (which is probably redundant) and gangsters. It's action-packed and for the most part, very believable. The sets and wardrobe seem period-accurate. I think the culture is depicted faithfully as well. The cinematography is excellent, even if they might do the "slow walk towards the camera like badasses" thing a bit too frequently. What really does it for me though is the soundtrack. They use mostly modern music that has a real edge. The theme song is "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
