? Virus Warning! ?
« on: May 18, 2005, 12:10:29 PM »
I posted the personality defect quiz at another site and several people said they got a trojan from the site.

I just ran my virus scan and had the backdoor-BDL trojan. I don't know for sure if it came from that site or not, but if I were you (everyone who went there) I would run a virus scan.

I was just gonna post this.
I'm running a scan now.
To clarify, someone I know from another site got an alert while on the site. I did not.

I encountered the same thing.  My AV alerted me when I was taking the quiz, but I wasn't sure if it came from that site or not (until now).

Opera user, and nothing came in here either.  Daily scans for virus & spyware have all come up clean since I surfed to the site.

Mozilla user.  Quit using MSIE and you won't have that problem.

Get rid of that nickel plated sissy browser, get yourself Firefox. Tongue

Yep.  In fact, I ran AdAware yesterday for the first time in 150 days and I only had 1 (yes 1) thing that popped up.

crt360,
           Are you saying you are running Firefox and still had a trojan attempt to install on your computer?

I ran Spyware Doctor and my McAfee virus scan without a problem.  I guess I'll run Ad Aware now just to be sure.

Now that you mention it GoRon, I think I had IE running at the time.  I switch between the two a lot, so I can't remember.  I have definitely had it happen with Firefox in the past (several different times), but my anti-virus popped up a warning and stopped it.

JavaScript, spiffy boy.  Or VBScript.  Or PERL.  A scripting language anyways. But most likely JavaScript.

Java != JavaScript

Routine overnight virus scans never turned up anything, I run IE.  Spybot and AdAware didn't come up with anything, as didn't the MS AntiSpyware.  Got a more throught Virus scan going right now, but it isn't appearing to find anything.  We'll see if anything pops up.

EDIT: AV came up with nada.
