Sad

She was 15. Oh well...

Too bad I don't have a pic, she was a cute border collie mutt.

Sorry to hear that, Blackburn. Sounds like she lived a good long life. Keep her in your memory and she will always be with you.

Losing a pet always sucks. We get so used to having their particular personality around, making life a little brighter, and then they're gone. It's always heart wrenching.

Blackburn,
I am sorry for your loss, and hope this brings some comfort.  It did for me when I lost my best friend.

I Stood By Your Bed Last Night

I stood by your bed last night. I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here"

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea.
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today. You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me".

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away".

You sat very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew&
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over&I smile and watch you yawning and say
"Goodnight, God Bless, I'll see you in the morning".

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out&then come home to be with me.

Not many things are better than a cool dog.  15 years is one hell of a lifespan for a dog, at least.

I'm sorry for your loss, Blackburn.  Dogs are special creatures- some of us feel the least of a dog is better then the greatest of a human sometimes.

My wife's Aussie is under my chair as I write this. She's 18 years old, nearly blind and deaf and has had several small strokes over the last 3 months.  She won't be with us much longer, I know, but she's the best judge of character and one of the smartest dogs I've ever been privilidged to know.  Maybe one day in the future she will be suceeded by a Border Collie, but not for awhile.

I grieve with you.

You gave her a good home, she gave you unconditional love.  What a wonderful life she had!

Hey Blackburn...I'm here with you!

We had to put our beloved friend to sleep about 6 wks ago.  She was only 11, and I wanted many more years with her.  Broke my heart as nothing ever has.

Very sorry for your loss.

I'm truly sorry, Blackburn. Having a dog die, or having to put one down, is one of the worst experiences.

When we put down our first, I was certain I wouldn't break down. But I did.

Don't forget to count your blessings.  So many people go through life without the unconditional love and companionship of a good dog.

I am, however, sorry to hear that you lost your friend.

Sorry man.  Losing a pet hurts like hell.  I have 2 dogs, 7 and 4, and I rue the day that they die.  But, life will go on.  Get another dog soon and it'll help.

Blackburn,

Please accept my condolences.  I lost my two favorite cats this year, one to old age and one to cancer.  It is very had but time helps.

Meanwhile, try http://www.petloss.com and the Rainbow Bridge story:
---------------------------------------------------------

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Not much to say that hasn't been already.  Unfortunately I've been in the same spot far too many times (giant dogs live shorter lives Sad ) & can certainly empathise.

Your title implied that you have more than one dog at the moment.  Be sure to pay lots of attention to them as well, they are grieving too.

My deepest sympathies and condolences.  Your pets become such special members of the family, it's tough when one passes on.  I hope she went peacefully.

This is a good place if you're interested. http://www.petloss.com/
Mutts are the best, you'll see her again, later. Pax.
