I thought this was kinda cool. A 1700 year old letter between brothers. Form all indications, just a couple of guys - nobody famous. So often, historical documents are of "historical significance". While, yeah, there are reasons this letter is of historical significance, I thought it was kinda cool to also see that 1700 years ago, people were just getting along. Sometimes the mundane is the most fascinating (to me). :)

"Fish liver sauce..."
I'm assuming that he's asking or garum...

Sure. During the Nixon crisis/affair I was writing letters back to my family without even mentioning Nixon or Watergate... yet, these were significant parts of U.S. history.
Life goes on and people tend to their own gardens while empires clash and crash all around. As long as the soldiery doesn't stomp down my cabbage patch, wer sorgt?

Interesting.
Was the recipient a polygamist?
It mentions "your wives."
