As we chip away more individual freedoms (voluntarily) in the name of fighting crime.

What happens when they pull you over to make sure your car isn't stolen and you *may* have had a beer or two or the car smells like pot. Maybe these people think they will get a pass because it is voluntary, guess again people.
I don't like things like this, too much giving up rights for "safety".

Someone didn't think that through. 9 times out of 10, if you're driving between 1 am and 5 am and that's not normally when you are on the road, it means there is some kind of emergency and you don't have time to be dicking around with the police.

When I lived around Dallas Texas the car theft was bad and police had a program like this where you could join where if they saw your car out after certain hours they would automatically pull you over. They also did glass VIN etching for free. The cars that were targeted most weren't really what you might expect. People told me my late '90s Tahoe was actually a prime target.

Meh. I don't see anyone giving up their liberties. They're not passing a law that takes away anyone's rights. It's just a voluntary program.
Maybe they're people that don't drive around late at night, and don't drink, either.

I think I remember hearing about them trying that in Tulsa a few years ago.
Big deal when it started, quietly faded into the obscurity it deserved.

Texas has, or had, the H.E.A.T program (Help End Auto Theft). Same concept... a sticker that screamed "Stop Me!".

Sometimes I see cars absolutely covered with stickers, usually some combination of rainbow, BETO, BERNIE, GORE, Keep Austin Weird, peace signs, and so forth.
Adding one of the "please stop me" stickers could results in much hilarity. >:D

The worst one I've seen was a van that someone was using as their pro-tobacco, Religious Right campaign bus. It was half religious iconography, and the other half was about how you'll die if you stop smoking. Not if you start, but if you stop.
