Yes, but there’s a time limit.  After probably a year or so there become rot and insect damage beyond what commercial mills will accept.  Plus, even standing dead fire killed trees can’t just be logged, even if there’s existing logging roads.  There’s still permits required, and bunny-humpers can, and do, file lawsuits to stop it.

Very much this.  The tree huggers file those suits all the time.  They even fight in court to prevent the clearing of slash and excess undergrowth that fuel and intensify forest fires.  The tree huggers are really Mother Nature's worst enemy.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.
