Guy open carrying in NH at some sort of demonstration, just standing there. The amusement comes from listening to the news reporters and commentators chattering in terror and amazement that he's just "allowed to do that" and discussing ways to get him removed.

He apparently went on with Chris Matthews. I've not seen the video yet, but from what I'm reading elsewhere the guy held himself well while Matthews was an interrupting, condescending, arrogant prick. In other words, he was Chris Matthews being Chris Matthews.

I caught that interview last night. The guy was so reasonable that Matthews actually calmed down after a bit. He was making a statement with the gun, nothing more.

One retort the guy might have used is that, if he were there to cause harm to the president or anyone else, he certainly wouldn't be carrying a gun openly.

When I first heard of this incident in the news, I have to say my first assumption was that it was one of our "gone overboard" brethren who was going to give us a serious black eye. But after seeing the interview with Matthews -- wow. The guy did a great job and the contrast between calm and whacked (i.e., Matthews) was clear.

I loved some of the guy's expressions when Matthews was getting overwrought.

Can anyone confirm whether NH law required open carry for that situation, as was reported?
The reporter said the gun was registered to him. Does NH have registration? I kinda doubt it, but dumb city-boy reporters don't know no better.

Three points I really wish he would have made:
a) That he was required to carry openly, so there's no way he could have provided for his self-defense without it (assuming the reporter was right about that point).
b)That he had reason to fear for his safety, as people on his side of the issue had already been attacked by Democratic counter-protesters.
c) "Mr. Matthews, why are you berating me, and treating me as if I had done something wrong?"

He did a great job, for someone who's probably never been on TV, or at least not on a well-known national show. A little rough, but still impressive.

I love this guy [he's wearing the FSP Gadsden Porcupine in the video, too!]. He went and parleyed his mere arriving at the protest - with that gun and that poster - into an opportunity to voice his views on the fate of the Republic on national TV for 8 minutes.

From the deep recesses of my mind I recall that during Bush 43's for run for president, his wife, Laura Bush, was at a rally somewhere in Tejas. At same said rally was a gaggle of black power protesters (Black Panthers, IIRC) carrying a number of AR pattern "assault weapons" (again, IIRC). I don't recall any media heavy breathing at the time.

Curious how the sauce is different for goose and gander.

I just watched this. Wow, is Chris Matthews always that loud, badgering and interruptive?
This was my first time watching him...and I did not care much for what I saw.

William Kostric, the exposed-carry gentleman, was impressive, especially under the pressure of having Matthews ranting and raving against him, and particularly so for basically being a "man off the street".

No registration in NH.

I've never heard or read of any requirement to OC. NH has pretty liberal rules on carrying. In fact, a Pistol/Revolver License (NH version of CCW) is only required when carrying in a car. Open carry is specifically allowed in the state by law.

No doubt that the guy was just trying to make a point. He seemed to do a good job of it.
