Red or white wine with cartoon monsters?
« on: February 16, 2013, 07:19:39 PM »
That has been the discussion between my little girl and me the last few minutes.  (but in juice terms, not wine, obviously)

She was watching an episode of Redwall and one of the bad guy's monster made an appearance.  Instead of, "Ooooo, scary monster!", or "Oh wow, how is the hero going to get out of this one?", I hear....."He doesn't look tasty."

Tasty?  Really?  I had to ask her to make sure I heard her right.  Yep.  Tasty.  This then lead to a discussion about what goes good with monster.  So, for squeals and giggles, I have to ask....Would it be red or white wine with monster?

I think it depends on how they're prepared, and what's on the plate next to them.

Maybe a Reisling if it's a lighter dish.

A Cabernet Sauvignon if heavier with strong sauces?

White wine with sea monsters.

Ben is on the right track.

White with fishy, reptilian, amphibian, or poultry-based monster-kind.

Red for mammalian monsters.

Insects & arachnids call for a nice port.

Arachnids should be nuked from orbit.  Just to make sure.

Honestly, I'd defer to what Larry Correia has to say on the matter.

Just asked Goober what the Blob would be considered and she says, "dessert, duh, mom.  It's like Jello."

I'm thinking it depends on the cartoon too.

Sailor Moon? Definatly champagne.

Thundercats? fruity cocktails.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Beer (to go with the diced monster pizza toppings, of course)

Maybe it's the new way to attack monsters?  Just go after 'em with a knife and fork?

It's a logical progression. We've already covered pretty much the standard monster hunting calibers. Now, we must determine how to serve the monsters in a tasty fasion.

Reminds me of the gaming group I play in.  Every time we finish attacking the monster, one guy pipes up with, "Is it edible?  Can we cook it?"  We're ready to clock the DM for allowing him to roll to see if it tastes good or finishes our group off.  We've all died of food poisoning three times already!
