I finally got around to reading TDS posts related to this. Wow - way more off the rail than when word of this first got out. Some people were actually sane and said, "I hate Trump but..." then explained the background and that it would happen no matter who was in office right now. Then there would be 100 replies attacking them and going further off the rails with schemes and talk about how Trump has his "agents" planted in FEMA and the military.

I guess on the bright side, all the TDS people that said they will block the alerts will be the first to go in a disaster. More supplies for the rest of us.  :laugh:

Also I think I figured out how I got the alert in the wild: Trump activated the special comms systems on his armada of invisible drones to ensure all his acolytes received their trigger message.

I got the most entertaining results by googling "how to keep presidential alerts off your phone" then reading the comments to the supposedly tech articles. You would think people who deal in IT would be more rational than average, but it appears to be the opposite.

I just came across something in Facebook that was supposedly a Twitter lift of some idiot claiming that the presidential alert was equivalent to cyber rape...

About a month ago I satellited ( ! ) my building and there in the parking lot was my car with this big black thing on the hood.  It finally dawned on me if was my garbage bag, and since I take out the trash, park it on the hood of the car, drive over to the dumpster, get rid of the bag and then go run my errands, I must've just got in the car at that moment.

For some reason that bothered me a little.  Just a little, but then I found it amusing.  Instead of going through my trash for "evidence," they could just read it while it was on my car hood.

Kinda silly, but it was just a bit too personal somehow.
