Yawnnnnnnnnn another gun and hunting thread -NOT!!!!!

FWIW I think hunting is stupid. Get in your SUV, drive to the woods, dressed in full cammo costume, hump into the woods, slog through brush and the cold to shoot something that can't shoot back. Drag it's carcass back to the big SUV, strap it down, drive home. Gut and dress it, maybe make a meal out of the kill.

Me, I'll just walk to the Foodtown, throw some steak in a cart, and go home, open a beer and pop it in the broiler. Dinner.

I don't need a gun "

Okay, this should probably be in L&P.
Mostly missing punctuation needed to glue your run-on sentences together.
Never learned its versus it's? Shame, shame, shame.
Obviously you've never seen how far a deer or two go towards feeding a family that can't always afford Foodtown.
And why are you broiling a beer, genius?

Really, we need to recruit a better caliber of troll, people.

Rule #1 - Don't feed the trolls.

Rule #2 - See Rule #1, above.

If THR is smart, they'll simply ignore him and let his posting scroll off the bottom.  It's not like he signed on there to contribute anything useful or even ask advice.

Ok, now I know why they're stalking you from other forums.  You're annoying me already.

It's great that you glommed onto the fact I speak German.  I also speak and write Latin, Hebrew, and Greek, with some Japanese in there for good measure. If you want to be chummy with me, I'd be more than happy to hold a conversation with you offline in my ancestor's family tongue, either Hochdeutsch or Plattdeutch.

But online, I prefer you let it go and speak English like the rest of the folks here.  I hate it when I'm at the base exchange and everybody is rapid-fire Tagalog, so I ask them politely if they wouldn't mind terribly conversing in English, since it was an American's military ID that got them their green cards and across the pond with BX privileges to begin with.

It's only courteous and polite - qualities often missing these days, especially on internet forums.

I dont understand why you would quote a THR thread here to begin with, much less one made by a troll.  Why feed it when it isn't even here?

That's funny. I get yelled at by one for speaking trivet talk, and then yelled at by another with a german nick for troll-feeding. [sarcasm]Geeze, if I wanted this much abuse, I could go back to THR.[/sarcasm]

I think the OP was funny, especially the point about broiling beer.
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

Darn it, the thread was locked.  I was going to post something like "Well, I don't have guns for shooting animals.  I have guns for shooting Democrats.  My ancestors had to shoot Democrats from 1861 to 1865 and who knows, the need may arise again." grin

El T,

I like that, so consider it stolen.  I probably won't even attribute it to you, I'll claim I thought it up on my own.

I always thought the best refutation of "hunter's shooting defenseless animals" is that the animals always have the defense of just not being there.  Most anti-hunting folks have no clue the effort it can take to simply arrange for you and a shootable animal to occupy the same few hundred yards.

In that we may be poorly served by the hunting videos (that make theanti's clutch their pathetic martini glasses in impotent rage) that make every hunt appear a sure thing and evey animal an unaware target.

Where's the videos of my hunts?  Miles of slogging up and down hills, of crawling through mud with my shotgun stalking deer, only to have them bound away before they're within range of my #4 Hevishot?

Bound away laughing at me and insulting my clothes for that matter...

Stupid deer...

How about one of my hunts...

Where I walk a very large circle that includes an old apple orchard, only to spook a very large buck grazing not even 30yds from where I parked my truck as I'm finishing my trek.

Yeah, hunting's easy all right.

Well...to people who only see animals at the zoo, in Disney movies, and on Ellen Degeneres commercials, it does seem like it would be easy to kill them.  And of course, all you have to do is aim a gun in the general direction of the animal and spray bullets at them.  That's why THOSE people moderately respect bow hunters...and why I hate THOSE people.

If I ever see anyone broilling a steak I'll probably bash him on the head and run home with it to be properly cooked on a grill.

Gotta reread that. He said he was broiling the beer.  shocked

By the way ...

Go for it.  BTW, did you know a broiler is just an upside down grill?

Yea, animals ain't stupid. Having taken one squirrel and taken a few potshots at the rest of them raiding my feeder about 2-3 weeks ago I can honestly say I haven't seen a squirrel anywhere near it ever since. They're out there, I see them all the time but not near the feeder. Mrs 280 thinks they'll get brave and come back again but so far, nyet.

Except if you try to use it that way, the steak keeps falling off.
