You missed part of my point, which is that the erosion of all rights goes on and on. There've been (recently) some slight recognition that too many functions of government have been usurped by the Feds.
We may be able to recover 2A rights, maybe even to before 1934. It's possible.
One of the major stumbling blocks to that recovery is that return to pre-1934 status would be breaking the rice bowls af all the FFL licencees. I'm amused to think that the current (rumored) attack on FFLs might reduce that resistance to re-establishing gun rights. On the other hand, it might just establish government outlets for firearms, like liquor stores in some States.
I wish I could remember who noted that buying a gun should be like buying a hammer. You pays yer money and you takes your hammer home.
