Title: Amusing TV commercials
Post by: 230RN on June 19, 2021, 07:02:26 AM: For a whiIe was thinking I must be getting smarter until I realized that it was because by comparison, the TV commercials were getting dumber.

But it seems recently the ad people themselves started to realize how stupid a lot of their output was. I know there are fads, like animal mascots, and disasters like the Erin Esurance ads (which see), but I'm seeing an improvement.

So after al these years of watching TV (and I'm doing more of it since retirement), I have finally decided that the absolute best commercials lately (as if there were an annual Academ Awards for TV ads), are the Bill Swift ads for Flex Seal.

The one where he's a giant who goes around Flex Sealing dams and water towers and whatnot was what tipped the nominations in Flex Seal's favor. The water tower workers gettting doused was hilarious.

The Trunk Monkey commercials are classic
Anyone else expect the monkey in the dating one to hit her over the head instead of handing her a rose?

We engineers used to look forward to watching the Blitz Weinhard commercials with Vern and Earl smuggling Schludwiller beer into Oregon when they first arrived at the station. Funny stuff.

I like these ads - especially the second. (Don't think they ran in the USA)
