One of the presenters, Richard Hammond, is in hospital and in a bad way following a crash in a jet powered car yesterday.

Bad news Iain - I used to watch them always pre 2000 when still in UK and since then have enjoyed many google video clips.

Hope he makes it thru OK - post back later with progress if you can.

I only catch them in the occassional online clip out here. They seem like a good bunch of guys and I wish Richard Hammond a speedy and complete recovery. All that stuff in the article about blaming the show is absurd. Its a dangerous (and fun) job, and Richard knew it as well as anyone and readily (and happily) accepted that risk.

Apparently he is out of intensive care which is good news.

Part of the controversy over the event stems from rumours that he was trying to break the British land speed record (a paltry 300mph, nowhere like Bonneville here) when the accident happened. I agree with c_yeager though, he knew the risks, just like he did when he tried to turn a camper van into a boat and it sank.

That is literally my favorite show of all time. They actually make motoring FUN!

Richard has some big brass ones for attempting to break the record. I wish him the most complete recovery possible!

Top Gear is probably the best show on BBC, you can watch episodes on youtube.
