Midway, Midsouth, Natchezss, Graf & Sons

Trying to buy some bulk .308 and .223 bullets is a PITA.  Usually deal with MidwayUSA.  Great website easy ordering dependable delivery.  But they are out of everything.  Midsouth and Natcheszss websites are huge timewasters; more suited to somebody who likes to spend lots of time shopping and looking and clicking and waiting.

Finally went to Graf & Sons. Easy to use, efficient website, they've got what I want, very very low prices and easy to order.

FWIW.

Graf gives a dealer discount to C&R holders as well.

We got a ammo hungry military... buying the NATO calibers is hard right now.

Whomever has the goods, has the goods and the rest needs to wait.

I haven't seen milsurp .308 ammo in over a year.

Been using Graf & Sons for black powder for years. Great prices, great service. I didn't even know they do C&R discounts! Copy of license being sent ASAP.

I have a poopload of .308 bullets (not live ammo just the bullets) of all different varieties, bought a boxload I found at the flea market. I'd probaly ship you a few hundred if your interested. I doubt I'll ever use then all, unless the SHTF, then I'll want them back. Preferably loaded.  grin

Plenty of surplus .308 here, decent prices, but it's SA and Lithuanian.

I believe so.

News release about Graf and Mexico.

Quote
Graf and Sons is a great local success story said City Manager Tanna Parish. We said in our Community Based Action Plan in 2002 that we would focus on helping our locally owned and operated businesses grow and thats exactly what were doing, he stated. Mayor Virginia Robertson agreed. Our existing businesses are the economic lifeblood of the community and we need to make sure were meeting their expansion needs, she added.

Progress Mexico and the Mexico Chamber of Commerce representatives echoed those sentiments. Vince Fuemmeler, President of the Mexico Chamber of Commerce said While its always nice to attract new companies to town the reality is that the bulk of new jobs are created by local businesses and I think our economic development efforts reflect that here. Ron Hopkins, President of Progress Mexico said Graf and Sons illustrates the fact that Mexico is not just a good location for new businesses but a great place for entrepreneurs like Bob and Marjorie Graf to grow their business.

Graf & Sons is lead by owners Bob, Marjorie & Carl Graf. Grafs first opened in 1957 by Arnold Graf and his two sons, Bob and Howard. Graf & Sons has grown from a small 3-man operation to 40 employees. The new distribution and customer service center is expected to be operational by next spring.

It's supposed to be pretty decent, yes. I just thought someone wanted domestic stuff like Lake City.
That's all going -----> Over There, I think.

$68 per battlepack for SA at the store I like, $120 (HAHAHA) at the gun show last weekend.

Also, if you have lots of .308 bullets, keep in mind that they can be used for other guns, too. That's what you'd load into 7.5x55 brass for a K-31.

A battle pack is 140 rounds? And it's in the heavy vinyl? Will the shop ship?

Will the shop ship them in ship shape order? (sorry...  rolleyes )

Last I knew it was gone around here, I'd like a few hundred more rounds for stashing away. Maybe three packs. I'm going to check my local though, see what he's got going on. I'll tell you what he says.

I've shot a bit of it, the stuff is about as accurate as any standard military round and has always gone bang, so far. ~ 100 rounds maybe. I do get better accuracy out of good quality commercial stuff. I got the Saiga in .308. It's a pretty good shooter. It's accurate enough and I haven't had any failures with it at all so far. I don't shoot it much because of the prices. Someday I'll set myself up to load. I've been saving the brass and I got the heads, so,,,

The South African and Australian I've shot are top notch. Stay away from the Indian stuff.

There's nothing wrong with milsurp......I've still got some LC and Radway Green, BUT it isn't as accurate as I'd like.  I can do much better with handloads.

Having a duh moment, myself.   undecided

Riley should get as many reloading components as he can afford, before microstamping goes into effect out there.

That piece of idiocy only affects new handgun sales and not until 2010. Unmicrostamped handgun prices will no doubt go through the roof as the date approaches, probably beginning in 2009 and increasing all the way to the end of the year.

I liked SIG's letter to CA regarding microstamping. That if it went into effect, it basically wasn't worth their while to invest all the millions in tooling it'd take while maintaining their level of quality...not just for one state.

In other words, no SIG for CA once it goes into effect. Good for them.

Depends on how you define good. I've shot about 1000 rounds of it because that's all I can get now.

It goes bang everytime in my 7.62X51 chambered Garand (take a deep breath purists - I had it done because mil-surp .308 is cheaper and easier to find than 30-06 where I live).

In my personal experience about 1 in 10 cartridges will be too long. About 1 in 50 the case diameter is too wide.

Both conditions result in feeding problems. Too long is the one I worry about because it can create excess pressure. Too wide - so far it seems like they just require an extra tap on the bolt handle to get them to feed. They extract just fine.

The stuff shoots in to a 4" or so circle at 100 yards on a good day from a sandbag. Might be better than that, probably is with a steadier hand, but that's all I can get out of it.

Midway- easy to use site. Dealer discounts aren't as good as they were 3 years ago. Most of the stuff that I was able to buy at Midway with my dealer discount I was able to get at normal price from Midsouth within a few cents.

-Grafs- Never ordered anything from them. Sent them my 03, along with several emails asking about FFL discounts, never got a reply back, they probably didn't need my business very badly.

Midsouth- horrible website. Good prices. Not that I've let my 03 lapse, I'll probably do most of my ordering from here.
