.50 cal round as an improvised weapon
« on: June 14, 2005, 09:26:37 PM »
What do you think? I've got a dummy .50 cal round, and it looks pretty good as a gouger or a pressure-pointer. I think a couple jabs to the soft parts of the lower neck/upper shoulder, or rips, or even face if need be would deter someone.

However, if you're that close, you've made a mistake anyway, right? But this is not a strategic thing, really just thinking about that round as an improv weapon.

Maybe a 20mm would be better?

I just got a dummy 20mm as a gift today, and was thinking the exact same thing. After seeing .50 cal, I would think the 20mm would be a bit better.

Find yourself a dummy 75mm and swing it like a bat.  I found one at an antique store once that was good and hefty.

Don't tell them it's a dummy.  Just yell, " BACK  OFF OR I'LL SQUEEZE IT REALLY HARD!!!"  Cheesy

Maybe you can find one of those old glass heinz ketchup bottles like they use in restaurants- it would make a decent improvised weapon and you can paint it up to look like a .50 to fool people like senators, liberals, and california politicians that you are carrying a .50 cartridge around and not a ketchup bottle.Cheesy

Why do I get a visual of some guy squeezing the hell out of a .50 BMG casing, the neck of which has split like a banana peel and the bullet zipping cartoonishly toward some frightened BG?
APS #405. Plankowner? You be the judge.

Better would be a 338 lapua with a lost river ballistics J40 bullet... That bullet is sharp enough to draw blood if you poke it with a finger.
