Saw a link to this on the Book of Faces today: Readers: Join a Conversation About Gun Laws (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/01/opinion/readers-join-a-conversation-about-gun-laws.html)
blah blah blah
We’re looking for readers to participate in a thoughtful conversation on gun policy in America as part of a project featuring a series of such conversations on important issues facing the country. We welcome and encourage all voices and points of view as long as they include an openness to respectfully discussing this issue with others.
blah blah blah
So I filled it out. Ended with
"What is one question you’d like to ask someone with an opposing view on gun control? " --NYT
"Given that you very evidently are ignorant of the technology, of the history, and current law, and given that your side does not act in good faith, and is uninterested in genuine compromise, why should we engage in conversation with you?"
I'm just too civil. I don't see this going anywhere good.

I suspect they don't really want to hear my opinion since I believe that disarming a law abiding individual does not make them safer. Hard to get past that.

Thoughtful conversation = *expletive deleted*ck your opinion and facts unless they agree with us
