Apparently New Yorkers are unable to resist the evil temptation of >16oz. sugared drinks. Thank heavens they have a savior in his honor the mayor! I guess the plebs can't be allowed to actually make their own diet choices.

What's next? Maybe he'll resurrect the attempted ban on salt use in restaurant cooking from a couple years ago.

Remember kiddies, only the GUMMINT can protect you from yourself.
-
Will I need a permit to buy a six-pack of soda? 6x12=72oz, even in NYC.
-
That's the next step, banning the high capacity soda delivery devices....
-
Sodas don't kill people, people with a sugar addiction kill people. The Busybodies are psychopaths, meddling ghouls.

And, notably, only themselves.
Like most every victimless law, I find this one to be ethically wrong.

The great one will exempt
...would not apply to diet sodas, fruit juices, dairy-based drinks or alcoholic beverages. Nor would it include drinks sold in grocery or convenience stores. Food establishments that don't downsize would face fines of $200.

For a "pro-choice" politician, Bloomberg has some - er - interesting policies.

Probably. More than six == high capacity soda pack, and will be banned.
Only half kidding.

I was just wondering what men like Patrick Henry, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson would think, that we've been reduced to a state where politicians think it's their place to regulate how large a drink Americans ought to be allowed - allowed! - to purchase.
-
I suspect their thoughts would involve pouring more than 16 ounces of tar.

"I'll have a Large, please."

"I'll have a Large, please."
Super Duper Double Gulp.....
-
At the movie, seeing as it costs something like two dollars for an upgrade that triples the size of a drink while another drink costs something like 6 dollars... I prefer getting the large and just sharing with my GF; its Her excuse to not get a diet cause otherwise she would have really. [popcorn]
Why does Bloomberg hate sharing?

Why does Bloomberg hate sharing?
FTFY.
Why is the flaming liberal Bloomberg still allowed to call himself a Republican?

It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, I guess... ... ... ... ... . ..... ..... [tinfoil]

He ran out of other ways to control people. It's a compulsion.

Pretty much. Controlling others is probably the most addictive behavior humanity has thus far come up with.
-
There is nothing worse than a man who is certain of his own goodness. Bloomberg is insufferable.

mtnbkr beat me to the punch. I didn't notice the "ANN" between the "N" and the "Y" though when I first saw the cartoon today.

I don't suppose New Yorkers will finally decide they've had a a bellyful of him because of this, will they? I do know from living there for my first 22 years that NYC-ers are kind of slavelike with respect to Authority's authority.
"You can't fight City Hall" was a catchphrase all through my formative years back then.

Two words: David Dinkins.
NYC could do worse, and has.

Well, it is the city of Tammany Hall.
-
Why fight City Hall when it feeds you? NYC is the living playbook of The Left.

That expains a lot about the way Denver is heading. Circuses and bread and Tammany Hall-type patronage.

I've been saying for years that it's just a matter of time before the gov tries to force us to eat broccoli - enforce our diets in some form or fashion - because IT'S FOR OUR OWN GOOD. And justify it in that it costs the system too much money to have
fat slender-challenged less-than-healthy folks running around. This seems like a start. If this passes, it sets a precedent and becomes "the norm" like so many other things that would be ridiculous if they weren't so dangerous to our liberty. Where does it end?

"Eat your vegetables, Tommy - or you will get sent to Gitmo."
-
Careful. I'm sure "Gitmo" is on the list of watch-words. They're listening to you now Tallpine.
Hope they hear this loud and clear: I'll show you Gitmo.

More infantilization of minorities by the meddling class. Strap 'em in the high chair and spoon-feed the little ones. Everbody happy, especially those with the big spoons.

Your message is lost on me. ???

Ah and now it is fat that Bloomberg & Company is protecting everybody from.

Let's see, you can buy a quart of beer or a bottle of wine and you can't buy a 20 oz Coke. Something is out of wack. But don't touch my popcorn! Bloomberg needs to retire before he gets even more full of himself.
One of the big criticims my older brother had for George W. Bush was that he sometimes seemed like he believed he was a messenger from God and had to save the world from itself. Bloomberg seems to fit that MO. My brother voted for Obama and I suspect he will vote for him again which is beyond my comprehension.

all i know is, if i even kinda looked like bloomberg, i wouldn't eat or drink anything, i didn't cook myself in NYC. [tinfoil]
