If all land were privately owned without any oversight there would be no old growth forests or any other unmolested natural resources.

You could be right. It's possible that all forests would be managed--which is precisely why millions of acres wouldn't burn down at a pop.

It would all be used to make quick buck now.

If by that you mean that it would be clearcut, that's demonstrably untrue: managed forests are not clearcut. They're managed to provide a sustainable income.

And for profit firefighting?  Oh yeah, that'll work..........

There are plenty of private fire departments in the country now. You're suggesting such a thing is impossible, when in fact it's commonplace. I don't know offhand whether there are for-profit smoke-jumpers, but the forest managers are motivated not to end up unemployed due to loss of all their woodlots--not to mention the losses due to lawsuits for letting fires get out of hand.

Conversely, just try to sue the government for its mismanagement of forest land leading to loss of your home and property.
