Seriously?!?
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:38:06 AM »
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/08/31/nh-teen-zapped-nipples-shop-class-sues-teacher-school-district/#content

A teen in a shop class attached electrical clamps to his nipples and had another student plug in the cord.

He's now suing the shop teacher and the school district.

Apparently personal responsibility is a trait we discourage in this country.

Oh, of note too: the lawsuit is claiming he suffered brain damage as a result of the incident. My only question: How can they tell?
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Time to pick a new trade.

Yeah, I'm seeing the liability on the part of the school here.  Didn't this kid ever watch the power company PSA ads with the bumblebee that have been on with Saturday morning cartoons since the 80's?  What the heck did they think was going to happen?

It is too bad they weren't attached somewhere else down south so that a Darwin award would be a possibility even if he survived.

Thinking back to my high school days, I can see someone attaching wires to a couple of fingers on a dare. (Yes, we had a LOT of students originating in the shallow end of the gene pool. Which is why the graduating class dwindled to 470 from an incoming freshman class of 630 four years earlier.)

But I don't see two guys doing an "electrified nipple" routine.   ;/

(Coming up next - high school dentistry by blowtorch and shaving via band saw.)

Bring back eugenics. Seriously. Some people should be prevented from procreating. This idiot is one of them. Simple procedure, and the future of humanity will be a bit brighter...

My freshman class: 800 plus or minus. Graduating class? Maybe 180 or so.

Leastways, those were the figures we were discussing during our senior year...

The former daughter's freshman class in '98 was 450.  The senior class was 457 (transfers in).  All 457 were accepted by at least two colleges/universities.  The graduating class had a combined total of over $3 Million in scholarships and over $2 Million in grants.

It was a public high school.

OK, so it was a public high school endowed by a private bequest, and it was competitive admission for the academically gifted across the city.  The lowest academic level classes were AP - most kids were enrolled in courses that were accepted for college credit.  Everyone took a foreign language and went on a 3-week trip to where that language was the native tongue.  [They did fundraising for the trip, but the money went into a collective pot so that everybody got to go and had the same amount of spending cash.  (Yes, that's socialism and allows some slackers to get a free ride on the backs of thoese kids who really hustle, but since the majority of the finances came from the endowment I can let it slide.)]

And the icing on the cake for the former daughter's HS experience?  Her lily-white butt qualified her for minority status!  Yes, I milked that cow for all it was worth.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Yeah, no one knew about the dangers of 110V A/C electricity and suicide cords without the teacher telling them.  I really hope this goes to trial.

I predict the moron will win his case. Especially so if he actually gets a jury of his peers.

Unfortunately, in our Youtube, Jackass, reality-show culture, an idiot like this is more likely to become a pop icon than a laughingstock.
