I know a few Apple fanbois who just don't get that any operating system is subject to malware. To them, anything Apple is infallible and blessed by The Creator to be forever pure as the wind-driven snow.

It's just that, despite the lower number of vulnerabilities in Windows, well, it's like with car theft- if half the cars on the roads are Honda Civics, they could be the most well secured cars on the road, but 'everybody' will know how to exploit them.  If less than 1% of vehicles are Yugos, they could actually be far easier to exploit, but the demand for the knowledge just isn't there.

I don't care what computer anybody uses, but the "virus proof" thing from the fanboys has been around forever and has incredibly irritated me for just as long. Maybe I'm a meanie, but I've always hoped for a big Apple virus attack just to shut them up.

Like Firethorn said though, the numbers have just not been there to make major exploit attacks worthwhile. Maybe now the popularity of their products is going to bite them in that regard.

I've been using Mac's for over 25 years. Had all sorts of problems. Most I lived with until I got a new machine, as I didn't feel like going to a mall to the Mac Store, which is a lot like Starbucks without the whipped cream. I also need my Mac back sooner than a month.

I just had something major happen to my main machine, and spent nearly two weeks getting things back in order. Replaced both hard drives, reinstalled system software, restored files, etc. It was a combination of a hard drive going bad, corrupt files, and I think a virus. It came on quickly.

Yin'z need to surf all the porn sites you can.  They want yer business badly so they install virus blockers and yer machine stays free of all viruses and bacteria and STD's.  (Unless yin'z don't swab yer blow-up doll with some disinfectant now and then)

I was going to say, that's 3 sites that I didn't know about.  I look for porn surprisingly little.

Though I remember reading that, mostly because of their reputation and that they're commercial, porn sites actually serve up less malicious logic(malware) than church sites do - because so many church sites are set up by somebody who can barely get it serving pages, and they're 'trusted' by people visiting them, so they're a favorite target for the unethical types.

In my MUCH earlier days on the web, usenet news was the best place to snag audio and video. It was UUencoded and broken into 1 meg chunks. If the extension wasn't .gif, .jpg or some non-executable, ya didn't download it (if ya had ANY brains). Safe, free and plentiful and had branches like alt.pictures.binary.erotica.furry.penguin.nuns, ya know, something for everyone!
