Name another band that utilizes the fundamentals of music more effectively.

"As popular music goes, things just don't get much better than that"

If Linkin Park is the best music you've heard, then, well, you might need to expand your horizons a little bit.

Linkin Park isn't the best I've ever heard.  They're simply the only good, current band that comes to mind.

Who would ypu recomend?  I'm open to sugestions.

I don't really like System of a Down, outside of Nuguns.

Korn?  Not the biggest Korn fan, but I thought that they were really fun live.

I think Linkin Park is very talented, and has done some innovative stuff.

Talented?   Currently?  These are mostly still recording:

Distrubed (personal favorite)
Drowning Pool (Bummer death there),
Damage Plan (another bummer, Dimebag was a genius)
Perfect Circle (another Maynard from Tool project)
Muse (massive talent)
Audio Slave (old school feel)
Rage Against the Machine (yes, they are idiots, I know)
Evenessence (very pretty voice)
Live (just classic stuff)
Shinedown (okay gun guys, listen to .45  and tell me it isn't awesome)
Kasabian (I've recently taken a liking to this band)
TRUSTcompany (nice guys in person)
Dave Matthews (yes, sometimes I don't want to bang my head)  Smiley
Radiohead (possibly the most interesting and fun live show I've been to)
Rob Zombie (the MAN)
Breaking Benjamin (pretty talented)
Slipknot (when you really want to jump up and down and smash stuff)
Papa Roach (getting away with murder is a favorite)
Saliva (I grin stupidly every time I hear Click, Click, Boom)
Rollins Band - Black Flag (because Henry Rollins yelling at stuff is great)
Cyprus Hill (Good stuff, esp Rock Super Star)
Lacuna Coil (from Italy, reminds me of Evenessence)
Eve 6 (lyrically creative)
Gorillaz (fun rap/dance/punk)
Godsmack (good guitar work)
CKY (fun rock)
Anthrax (Scott Ian on guitar)
Rush (still recording, very good)
Rammstein (oh you know you like getting yelled at in German)
Killswitch Engage
Ill Nino
Hot Hot Heat
Taproot
Three Days Grace
Deftones
Tenacious D
Black Eye Peas
Outkast
Life of Agony
Black Label Society
Powerman 5000
Black Sabbath (okay, not current, but sometimes you just need to listen to War Pigs)
Mudvayne
Nevermore
Chevelle
Foo Fighters
Ra

Okay, that's what I can think of right now.  There are lots of talented bands working right now.  Now what their politics are?  I have no idea, and on most of them I would rather not know.  Smiley

Linkin Park would be a lot better if they could somehow keep the radio stations from playing their songs into the ground.  Yeek.

Popular bands that understand rythym, melody, and singing?  The Wallflowers.  Counting Crows.  Cake.  Carbon Leaf.  Unwritten Law.  Dream Theater is probably popular enough to count, but I won't get any harder into the prog than that.  The Calling?  Tantric, perhaps?

Fear Factory has a pretty good concept of melody I think, for a double bass band anyway.
Check out Black Label Society, they are my current favorite. The album Mafia is excellent.

Grey Eye Glances is not nearly as well-known as they should be.  They've got it all; marvelously wise lyrics, a beautiful voice out front, and they grok melody and rhythm better than most bands out there.  They don't rely on 4/4 time, and they can sing in actual harmony.  Very few bands out there can make all of those claims at once.

Namaste,

Seek out wisdom in books, rare manuscripts, and cryptic poems if you will, but seek it also in simple stones and fragile herbs and in the cries of wild birds. Listen to the song of the wind and the roar of water if you would discover magic, for it is here that the old secrets are still preserved.

Hm. Someone else heard of Muse... I'm surprised.

Lately I've been listening to Reverend Horton Heat. Not exactly news, but boy are these guys fun. Bales of cocaine, falling from a low flying plane...
Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

Muse is excellent. The Killers. The White Stripes do amazing things with two instruments and a guy who really can't sing. The Hives, The Vines. Franz Ferdinand is catching my ear lately, as well as a few other bands that play on XM channel 047.

I'm also ashamed to admit hunting down some Jem albums, Telepopmusik, other laid back techno-style poppish stuff.
