We lost our KMart years ago.  On a positive note, the old building is currently being torn down and will be replaced with a Cabelas.

DG & FG are just doing what WM did 30 years ago....bringing needed products to rural areas for prices better than the local grocery stores & pharmacies. And it's easier to get in and out of a DG/FD when you're in a hurry than going to the WM Supercenter. If I need a few things quick, I go to DG or FD. If I'm doing the weekly/monthly shopping, I'll go to WM.

The first Wal-Mart Supercenter was built in Washington, Missouri, where I went to High School. My friends would go there in the evenings, just to hang out.

  • I spent a week in that town one night....

Wow, that's a really sad story.  It brought tears to my eyes.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Yeah, I used to go to work after school - just to hang out.

  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Yeah, I used to go to work after school - just to hang out.

and it was an uphill walk both ways!
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

We didn't have lard, either.  We was so dirt poor, dirt was richer 'en us.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.
