Slipshod report . . . for example, saying the term "Molon Labe" was made popular by the movie
300 is incorrect, as it was in use before the movie was released. (Actually, I don't remember the Greek phrase actually being used by the Leonidas character in the recent movie, though it definitely was in 1962's
The 300 Spartans.)The "Republic of Texas" types mentioned were just a bunch of con men who tried to get out of paying debts by asserting problems with Texas' annexation to the USA. So they set up their own government and tried to pay their bills with imaginary money drawn on a nonexistent bank. (They were mildly amusing until they - for some odd reason - kidnapped a neighbor.)
And really, most militias today are to all intents and purposes arms of the Federal government, since those who joined since the OKC bombing are likely agents of the FBI, DEA, BATF, or some other alphabet agency.
They actually should worry more about criminal gangs like MS-13 or ecoterrorists like
Earth First or
Animal Liberation Front - they're a lot more dangerous and have caused a lot more harm than these so-called "militia" groups.
