Rating old record albums for sale

I have a crate of old record albums (remember those?!) that a friend of mine wants me to sell on ebay for her. Does anyone know anything about how to rate these? Are they rated on a poor-good-very good type system? What are the rating based on? Does anyone know on any web resources that may provide any info?

Some of these are 40+ years old and some arent even dated so Im assuming those are older still. Does anyone know when albums started having dates on them?

Overall I've been very disappointed with what old records fetch on eBay.  I have 800+ and have pretty much determined I'd be better off putting them in a cardboard box on the lawn with a "4 Sale" sign.  YMMV.
