Digging up bones
« on: May 14, 2005, 07:25:41 PM »
Well last night I dug your picture out from our old dresser drawer
I set it on the table and I talked to it til four
Then I read some old love letters right up til the break of dawn
Well tonight I'm sittin alone diggin up bones

I'm a diggin up bones
Exhuming things that's better left alone
I'm resurrecting memories of a love that's dead and gone
Well tonight I'm sittin alone diggin up bones

Then I went through the closet and I found some things in there
Like that pretty lingerie that I bought you to wear
Then I recalled how good you looked each time you had it on
Well tonight I'm sittin alone diggin up bones

Then I went through the jewelry and I found our wedding rings
I put mine on my finger and I gave yours a fling
Across this lonely bedroom of our recent broken home
Well tonight I'm sittin alone diggin up bones

Stand_watie;
Stay strong man,  the kids need you for support,(and you need it back from them).
Nothing feels as good or hurts as bad as love.
Find something fun to do with the kids so you don't have as much time to sit there thinking.
You have a lot of us pulling for you, keep your chin up and hopefullly the good days will soon outnumber the bad ones.
Time is the best healer and hurt this deep takes a lot of healing.
Good luck and God bless
I'm OK it's the rest of the world that's messed up

DON'T spend your time sitting around looking at old pictures- you're headed down a bad spiral that way. Get out, see friends, go shooting, maybe join a group of guys going through the same thing.

Good luck.

You're torturing yourself, why?

I know, stupid question. Every person going through what you're going through does it.

I recommend volunteer work - hospital, hospice, animal shelter, whatever, just get the hell out of the house.

Stand,

Three years ago my son went down the same path you are on.  I have a 15 year old and a 13 year old grandson from the marriage that fell apart.  He stopped by yesterday and introduced a nice young lady that he is squiring around.  Nothing really serious, but it's so good to see him relaxed and a smile on his face.
I'll not make it easy on you, the first year was pretty tough, but it started to get better as time moved along.  You know what we have talked about the last few weeks.
You will be better.  Your child is more important than even you are, so always put her first in your daily decisions.

Thanks for the words guys.

Actually Antibubba, I'm doing better. I wouldn't have been able to look at those pictures two weeks ago. I'm not wasting hours and hours looking at them, I think I'm just working through the grief process.  I think I've got myself out of my pity party and am working on protecting my daughter now. I was just indulging myself a little bonedigging last night.

A long time ago I got rid of all of the pictures of my ex. No children with her, so it was a lot easier from that sense.
