Can the Honda trail 110, updated for today's market, be far behind?
-
I'd have to try it to have an opinion. I've only ever been on two bikes, a Honda 250 in the safety course and my Yamaha YX600.
-
I think this had been brought up before. First seen a Honda Gorilla here in Japan. I see them cruising around sometimes during the weekends. Pretty neat looking. Never ridden a motorcycle before but I kind of want one.
-
That looks like the little Honda 80 we had when I was a kid got fat.
-
I have a Chinese knockoff. It's not bad quality-wise.
It's fun, but because of the 125cc displacement, I really have no place to take it. I have to jump through the hoops of titling it as a motorcycle if I want to go on the street, there aren't really places I could go off-road around here, and I really don't go camping often enough.
-
Do you need a Honda Monkey.
I am disappoint. I thought Honda was producing their own Trunk Monkey.
-
The trail 90 (or 110) is the one they should bring back. Those things were handy as hell and would go anywhere. luggage racks, 4 gears with H/L range and an automatic clutch. and the onboard tool kit and spare fuel caddy were great.
-
^^^Yes. The 110 is still made and is most popular in Australia and New Zealand, where they are used by postal carriers. I would be thrilled if they came back to the States. But no, we need more liter bikes and crotch rockets, I suppose.

I wish they'd just bring back the UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle). Currently, Neither Honda nor Yamaha nor Kawasaki has anything even close. The only maker who has one in Suzukia, and it's only a single-cylinder 250. I guess Honda doesn't think an updated CB350 would sell. I disagree.

Seeing how the UJM moniker was coined after the introduction of the CB750 by Honda their current CB the CB1100 fits into that niche quite well, except it may have more motor than a lot of people want.

I would like a Yamaha TW200 with fat tires.

The CB1100 looks sort of close, but there's far too much daylight between the rear tire and the rear fender. And the price puts it totally out of the UJM universe. $12,199 plus $450 destination charge ... and that was the price for the 2017 model.
Ideally, I'd be looking for something in the 500 cc realm. Too bad Triumph didn't revive the Daytona.

Original UJMs are still plentiful.

Oh yeah, as a kid, I had the original Honda 50 "trunk" bike. The handlebars folded down and the fuel cap had a sealable vent.
