This time with jet + rocket, their ultimate goal is 1000 mph.  :O

Interestingly, their two biggest concerns are not power and stability; they're stopping in a reasonable distance so they can turn the car around for the return run, and finding a site big enough, smooth enough, and in a politically stable area (they've more or less ruled out the salt flat on the border between India and Pakistan  :O ).

800 hp V-12 APU.  Hmmm, that would make a nice go-cart. Those people are nuts, shows you what too little sunlight and being trapped on an island will do to your noggin. As for where to run it, why not  mount some skis and head for Antarctica?  It ought to skid to a stop before it goes off the other side of the continent.
