Where's skid?
I got another national anthem rendition

Actually, rather decent. They went off-key a couple of times, but the overall rendition was very respectful and largely devoid of inauthentic ornamentation. Far, far better than the offerings of several high-profile celebrities in recent memory.
-
As Hawkmoon said, rather decent for certain values of decent. I'd give it a C+, being as how C represents "average".
A few (or was it 4?) places where I wanted to step in with a 2x4 but recognizing that they are mere infants under the law it would more appropriately be applied to their coach/teacher/parent(s) who seem to be taking advantage of their youth and "cute"fulness.
By the end I was looking for David Seville to jump out from the sidelines wanting to have a "discussion" with Alvina (2nd from left).
stay safe.
-
The jazzed-up ending was somewhat off-putting, to be sure. The other questionable spots I pretty much attributed as much to being off key as to being wanton embellishment.

The anthem is a difficult song to get right.

Aha! So you agree.
The words are written down. The musical notes are written down. The tempo is written down.
Admittedly there are some challenging versions of follow-the-dots puzzles, but if you keep going from one number to the next you will come out with a properly solved product.
I'm going to start a movement demanding parity - Turn Gospel Singers Loose on "Ave Maria"! Start putting your glissando and ululations wherever you feel like it in that tune and see just how many folk are going to rush forward saying it's OK because the song, by itself, is difficult to get right.
::News headline::Pope uses shepherd's crook to beat snot out of idiot who 'personalized' "Ave Maria". Film at eleven."
stay safe.

Will this be available on Pay-per-view? [popcorn]

Not so many people sing it anymore.

I guess singing along with music that is so loud you can't hear yourself isn't singing. Neither is the auto-tuned crap that is done these days.

Someone still plays music today?
Nobody ever tells me anything ...

Calculus problems are written down, just like addition problems. Doesn't mean that solving them are easier, despite my jokes about needing "Remedial Integer Addition".
Different songs require different levels of technical expertise and practice to perform correctly. All I'm saying is that if you rate various songs on order of difficulty, it's not the hardest out there - but it's a solid 4.5/5 stars.

Not what I was trying get at. I'm not trying to argue that 'jazzing it up' is alright.

Sing along as Jimi Hendrix plays the Star Spangled Banner!

I think even Skid would have approved of this one. In his absence, I believe Mike Irwin assumed the role of resident anthem critic. Mike?
-
I also approve. If Mike is unable or unwilling to take on the role of Anthem curmudgeon, I would consider it an honour, and I think Skid would approve.

Definitely not worth more than about a 3.2/5. First, he sounded like they told him to hurry up and get it finished. Second, he added a couple of glissandos where there ain't s'posed to be glissandos. Not deliberately and intentionally butchered, but not great by any stretch.

Puddles Pity Party the clown sings the national anthem.
Ya gotta admit, he did a fine job of it. The man can sing!

This one's not bad:

Starts 3:29.
They overlaid some sound on it in the video, but...
"Rita Cappucino?" Not sure I caught her name right. Some coloration, but tasteful.
Didn't know they had drag racing boats. What tire pressure do they use?
Like word: "Nitrohaulic."

Uhm... That would be news to me, actually.

Four years late to the show. =D They're the Cactus Cuties. They're from right here in Lubbock.

Same kids but a couple years later. Incredible voices. They got older and went their separate ways. Didn't help that their manager had a massive heart attack about that time.

Yes, he can sing, but he still did not remain true to the music.
