Anti-Gun Superbowl Ad

Quote
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Among the slick, million-dollar ads for the likes of Pepsi and Honda during the Super Bowl this Sunday, viewers in New York and Boston will see a far more modest spot. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will be sitting on a couch touting an issue most politicians avoid like the plague: gun control.

The two mayors, whose local teams face off in the big game, are making the pitch for Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), the organization they co-founded in 2006.

How nice that they are addressing gun control in a Superbowl ad.

Bloomie just won't give up on his anti-gun quest.

While he has been hamstrung by the SCOTUS in banning guns in NYC, he keeps trying everywhere else.

Is he spending his own money for this, or NYC taxpayers' money?

The taxpayers', of course.

He didn't get rich by using his OWN money for boondoggles like this!  ;/ [ar15]

Just remember....Republicans like Romney and Gingrich supported his political career....
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

I have the same question, Bob, but could not find an answer.

He has nothing to lose, as he cannot run for another mayoral term due to limits.

Sadly, he can afford to bankroll these things from his personal fortune of $19.5 billion.

Wouldn't it be nice if millions of people contacted the NFL (and the advertisers) to let them know they would not be watching the SuperBowl because of that ad?

It would be more effective is they let the other advertisers know they won't be buying their products . . .

I don't begrudge Bloomberg to have his own opinions.

If New Yorkers who voted for him want to accept his drivel, that is their problem.

I am very irritated when he tries to push his anti opinions outside of NYC.

Then it becomes my problem, and I did not vote for his personal platform of BS.

Gee, two politicians who support the Second Amendment but want "common sense" gun control. Where have I heard that before?

They support the Second Amendment the same way George Wallace supported school integration.

And now, to equate support for their position with patriotism . . .  [barf]

It's a variation of the same old argument - "If you don't agree with me, not only are you wrong, you're a bad person."

Bloomie was term-limited a long time ago.  He [allegedly] bought-off the legislature or the city council or whomever to change the rule so he could run again.

Common sense gun laws: We can have 'em, you cannot.

Illegal guns: Any gun that is not in our hands.
