Who was banned from THR?
« on: August 07, 2007, 07:11:03 AM »
I was out of town over the weekend, and just found out L&P has been closed, and a lot of people were banned.

Who all was banned from THR?

Oddly enough, I'm not banned, and I would guesstimate that 98%+ of my posts were in GD/L&P/whatever they called it.  I probably never made anything resembling a constructive comment there  grin

Had to check, but I'm still there. Probably because it's been a long, long time since I was active there.

Nor was I suprisingly, since I had been warned often enough.

Longeyes, I was a looooooong time lurker at THR, and I would like to tell you that your posts were one of the reasons I kept coming back, and finally joined.  Thank you for all the years of wisdom.

You've been banned, longeyes?

Wow. Something's awry.

I've made a point of looking for your posts for quite some while. You've seemed to have a lucid, succinct way of putting things.

I figure something we aren't privy to happened with longeyes.

Like I said in an earlier thread we both have been there from the beginning. It just seems odd they canned him. I haven't been in THR a lot lately so I don't know if he was rantin an ravin or what, weird.

My thoughts on him have nothing to do with any positions he has taken. He was just one of the regulars who I have grown accustomed to seeing there.

Sorry Len, don't recall your posts so I cannot mount a defense for you.

Something's wrong if they've banned longeyes.  He's one of the most coherent, articulate posters on the entire board.  There are a couple of hothead mods over there; I doubt it was a 'staff decision'.  If  L&P is too much for 'em, close it down and let it be a gun forum only.

If longeyes is the great guy you all seem to think he is, then don't you think someone has jacked his screen-name?  Whoever is using "longeyes" around here has really tried to make himself a martyr, but only succeeded in sounding like a drama queen.  But then, I'm always disgusted when people debut on APS by complaining that they were victimized on THR.

There are some real "tools" I have run across here and at THR. Just because I think they are jerks doesn't mean I want them banned.

If the rules were broke then fine I understand.

I suspect some of the drama in longeyes posts is due to the fact that he has been a regular poster on THR since Dec 25 2002. When I went to see if his posts were deleted as he mistakenly claimed, I noticed he signed up the same day I did. I am member 785 so he is probably one of the first thousand people to sign up there. As a reference I believe that was around the first week THR was up.

Whatever, I just would hope if I get dumped someone would bother to let me know why.

I was banned. Sent Oleg an e-mail asking why, he's looking into it.

I'm really hoping it was the last post where I talked (joked) about my desire for a child-free gun show shopping experience. I was only contacted by a moderator once (unfairly, in my belief) and edited my posts to fit her requests, and that was months ago.  (my username was 'wooderson' as well if anyone's curious who I am or what my posts were, I doubt I was a well-known figure, etc.)

Please describe the "weird vibe" here.

As far as I know, no one has been banned here since Blackburn, and that's been months.

I've shut down a few posts, perhaps a couple prematurely, but as far as I know I'm the only admin other than possibly Oleg to have done so since the new friends section was added.

I know numerous posts have been let go that would very likely have drawn stern warnings or even bans on other forums.

Other than that, I'd have to say that, by and large, the monkeys still run this zoo, so to speak.
