https://babylonbee.com/video/californians-adjust-to-new-life-in-texas
This couple left California due to the cost of living, crime, taxes, etc. etc. etc. But now they're not so sure they can get used to living in Texas!
Video at the link has been going around. =)

Priceless.
Copied the link and sent it to my (Democrat) cousins who still live in Illinois.

The nice thing to me is since we passed constitutional carry, there is now some reality to the stereotypes about guns. Not that gun ownership was low or anything, but that sort of carry was limited.

My son and daughter in law just moved from Phoenix, Az to small town Kentucky and are having the same kind of issues. It's cool here now, until this week, and they just can't believe we can sit outside around a fire in our fireplace in front of the house and folks wave with all their fingers and no one shoots at us.

Those people are the reason I left Calif.

"You found a marriage counselor IN TEXAS that uses the word 'Texafication?' "
"She's in Austin"
(There's an element of truth there - I live just west of Austin. ;) )

Gotta send these to my friend Dave.
He and his wife Wendy are looking at selling their house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and moving to Texas to A) be nearer their son, my nephew the airline pilot and B) to get away from Iowa winters.
Dave and Wendy definitely aren't liberals, but the need to know what they'll be dealing with. :)
-
I would recommend avoiding moving into the city limits of major cities without good scouting of the area.
The Northern half of Texas still has significant Winters. Depends on what they are used to. Probably still pretty mild. Humidity is higher on the Gulf Coast. Less of that out near San Antonio/Austin or West Texas.
If you draw a line from Houston to Dallas: West of that is more and more arid the further you go. East of that gets more rainfall with thicker vegetation. I am sure there are exceptions.

They're looking at the Grapevine area. The like the general area and it's close to where their son lives.
