While filming some movies may indeed be "brutal" (in the loosest sense of the word), just as some of my truck driving jobs were "brutal' (driving regional and clocking 160,000 miles in a year), neither comes close to the brutality (of which I have no experience) experienced in war.

Cruise is a fool tool.

He was misquoted something terrible with that. He never said that what he did was anything like being a soldier. After the blowup in the media, he made it clear that he was quoted out of context. Here's the exchange in his child custody hearing:

"I didn't hear the Afghanistan," Cruise replies. "That's what it feels like and certainly on this last movie it was brutal. it was brutal."
"Do you believe that the situations are the same?" Cruise is asked.
"Oh come on," Cruise says, "you know, we're making a movie."

Yep.  Total misquote and really the work of some dumb ass lawyer.  He's still a doosh though.

Actors (and actresses) are people whose only job is pretending to be someone else.
I don't know why anybody cares what they say the rest of the time.
