Title: First flight of battery-powered aircraft
Post by: Preacherman on July 20, 2006, 04:38:07 PM
A Japanese inventor has developed a plane powered by a few score AA batteries, and it recently made a successful test flight.  Video at:

Most interesting!  Wonder if it comes with a built-in cellphone and GPS?  "Can you hear me now?" Cheesy

Lotsa work has been done in Japan on ultra-small electric motors with startlingly large output for the size.

Some 20 years back, some guys in California (CalTechies?) built a solar-powered plane that flew.  Gossamer Condor?  I disremember, exactly, the name they gave it.
