Trump points out that the Russians have been violating a nuclear arms treaty, and that if they don't get back in line with the treaty the U.S. will drop out. Predictably, the usual idiots blame Trump for saying he'll pull the U.S. out of the "agreement" rather than blaming Russia for having systematically violated it.

The issue, Pifer said, is that if the U.S. pulls out of the treaty, there is no reason for Russia to halt creating and testing new weapons. He said negotiations and pushing Russia's compliance were needed.

"So, U.S. withdrawal from the INF Treaty is a loser all around," he said. "Russian officials probably are celebrating the news."

I doubt the Russians want the U.S. to drop out of the agreement and start developing more/better nuclear weapons. The Russians are perfectly happy to see us sit here like a fat, dumb and happy target while they violate the treaty with impunity. I can't imagine any scenario under which the Russians would welcome welcome having the U.S. rejoin the international [nuclear] arms race.

Along with Putin's vision for Mother Russia, he is a canny SOB.  He is testing us continually.  There is no benefit to Russia whatsoever to get in an arms race primarily because they can't afford to.  Trump's track record is mostly perfect in these types of deals.  Don't do what you're supposed to do, we walk away.  Then what follows is an entirely new deal and one that is usually better for us.  The world is slowly coming to understand that we are no longer the big pussy and pushover that we've been for the last decades since Reagan term limited.
