How so?
McCain was laboring under a huge disadvantage of his own making - being a moderate, and I don't use that as a compliment.
That pretty much automatically meant a large part of the Party was not worked up enough to donate until a late stage in the game.
He was a moderate Republican, which meant he could not genuinely engage Obama on the issue like Thompson or Huckabee or that other guy would have.
Its very difficult to engage with people when the main way you do that - the media - is so blatantly biased as they have been during this election. I think its a fantasy to suggest that anyone - especially Huckabee - would have recieved any more favourable coverage, indeed it would probably have been a lot worse than it was.
I mean, on at least three occasions
that we know of media outlets have deliberately buried stories that might have harmed Obama's chances. They have actively promoted his lines and rubbished McCains, irrespective of whether they are actually true. We had an Obama advert pass without much negative comment that stated McCain and Rush Limbaugh were friends. Of course, on top of it all was the disgraceful treatment of Sarah Palin which verged from the ridiculous to the plain unethical.
The media has helped to dupe a large number of your fellow citizens into voting for this man. Somehow I doubt people will forget that come 2012.
