Wow. Definitely worth listening to the whole thing.

Also, "product intervention". Their internal documents make 1984 look like a grade school primer.

Edit again. Holy hell - the guy in the video is right. If you type in "Hillary Clinton's email" there are no returns of past searches. There might be soon if everyone tries it, but wow.

Not likely. If you look at trends like they do in the video It was a very popular search, and that;s what got it on the blacklist.

I get basically the same results, wikipedia is the top result in both, in duckduckgo as I do in google.

As a note: Bing autocompletes it quickly -as soon as you type "e" after Hillary you get "emails" followed by "email investigation." Google doesn't autocomplete it at all.

I'll be sticking with the Microsoft. They appear LESS inclined to censor.

There's a reason I've been doing everything I can to limit Google's touch on my life. (Short of buying an iPhone, but I may get there yet.)

But then you got to deal with Apple's version of the above. D if you do, D if you don't.

My main email is google and my secondary is yahoo.

What is the best alternative to the big players out there?

I’d like to retire the current email accounts and start fresh.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

I use an outloook.com address, for better or for worse, for my e-mail. Thunderbird on my PC as my actual reader

A good friend of mine from HS has been working at google for about 5 years or so as a data analyst.
He’s always been a somewhat moderate to left democrat- even ran unsuccessfully for state offices a few times.
When he moved to San Francisco, his fecesbook posts slowly became more and more radical. I recall one a few years back where he stated that he hated libertarians, because they are fascists who stand in the way of progress.
He was constantly posting pics of trips to communist countries (Cuba, Venezuela, China) with his tranny girlfriend.

About all I need to know about google’s viewpoints...

Does Microsoft still sell Windows phones? I have a friend who is an IT manager for a large hospital -- he has a Windows phone and doesn't want to know nuthin' about iPhones or Androids.

Oops -- I guess not.

I don't know that it's the "best," but Juno is still around. I've had a Juno account as my primary e-mail since the late 80s, starting when it was still an MS-DOS program that came on a floppy disk and had local phone numbers to retrieve your e-mail by dialing in over the phone line.

There's apparently a Linux phone slated to come out this year. I'll be keeping an eye on that, but you can be sure I won't be a first gen user. I'd prefer others to deal with the inevitable issues, first.

I'm looking at keeping the googles email for the standard "what's your email" requests that people I don't care about ask me, and also to keep a googles account active for the mapping, android use, etc. However I think I'm going to make proton mail my account for banking, close friends, etc.

Yep, Youtube (owned by Google) has taken it down.  Yeah, they are not section 230 compliant.  They are actin more and more like a publisher then a platform.

Dare I hope that the video is going to get a lot more views for the fact that Googletube took it down than it would have if they had left it alone?
