Ridiculous 911 call of the day
« on: April 05, 2016, 07:06:38 PM »
It's time for yet another dispatch from the land of, " Are You [censored] Kidding Me???"

Today's spike in blood pressure comes from the lovely person who called 911 because their iPad was locked....

Nope, not even close to kidding here people... Apparently now, when you call 911, expect to hear, "911, police, fire, medical, or tech support?"

I hope the police visited him and explained to him the appropriate user of 911 and left a parting gift for him.

Probably her, and I think the lesson should involve smashing her phone. And the tablet, too, while they're at it.

Needs a fine for improper use of emergency response system, and the ipad needs to rot in an evidence room.

I say send a fire truck. Unlock it with a Halligan. Wait for whining owner on six o'clock snooze. Use publicity to reeducate the public on proper 911 usage.

I was thinking more about spending the night in jail.  I would hope they would also find some illegal substances since that would at least partly explain the stupidity.

I had a Halligan bar that I used for demoing plaster walls and the like.

Love to have a Halligan bar and a Halligan bar bottle opener.

Halligans are too much work. I just use hooligans and pay them in beer.  =D

I wanted to use a 5 gallon bucket of tannerite, but I was afraid that that would remove more than the plaster and lath.

Like your leg?

My friend Dave, who now lives in Iowa but grew up a few miles from me on a small farmette, and I blew up a lot of tannerite at his Mom's place the last couple of years she was alive.

I sent him the link to this incident, and later talked to him on the phone. The first words out of his mouth were "I can't believe he put the tannerite BEHIND the mower and stood that close to it!"

We blew up a bunch of metal stuff with tannerite, a toaster, a TV, a few other things, but we ALWAYS put the tannerite in front of what we were blowing up, and we were always back one hell of a lot farther than 40 feet.

Wow, my ignorance about Halligan bars and LEGOs in another thread shows that I've been living in the dark all these years.

But, in my (weak) defense, even my computer's dictionary redlined "Halligan."

I didn't know what it was either, but from context I assumed it was something firefightery and destructivey.
