Is anyone else having problems with APS loading slowly?
« on: July 11, 2014, 09:31:00 AM »
I don't know if people are still having issues with APS, but I am. When I load a new page, the first post comes up almost right away, but the other posts can take anywhere from a couple of seconds to several seconds to load. Sometimes they don't load at all.

Anyone else experiencing problems?

Over most of the last day and a half the headers for the first forums would show, headers only, then*bloop!*the page would flesh out after a couple of seconds.
Working fine now.Maybe a 1-2 second delay when making a page change.

It's been happening in Chrome for me as well. Slightly better this morning, but only slightly so.

I get it in Firefox and Chrome. Worse in Firefox for me. I also get it on the native browser on my smartphone.

On Chrome back home it would sometimes show it was loading slow then give me an error message. Then I could just reload the page again then it woud load right up. Here at work on IE it's slow, because the internet is slow, but there isn't any issues loading.

If I may note with amusement: we (notice that I'm included) are complaining about a site taking "several seconds to load" when that would have been blazingly fast 10 years ago.  (ok, maybe 15)

Yes; yesterday, anyway.  Sometimes only the first post loads and then it just hangs until I refresh.  Using Chrome on Windows 7 laptop or a Chromebook.

Yep. I often wonder how many young people who routinely use "LOL", "OMG" and so on, even in oral communication, understand where and why those terms originated. How many know that 20+ years ago, using LOL used fewer precious computer resources than spelling out the words. How many know that connection speeds were 1/1000th or less of what they are today?

Been seeing these problems for awhile, a couple of weeks at least, on both IE and Firefox.

I've seen problems intermittantly, for ages.  Usually when I have multiple tabs open to multiple APS threads.

Yes, on Opera for droid. But I thought it was just this crappy phone. It keeps screwing up on me.
I just hit the stop and them reload the page, it seems to go faster.

I get the same thing in IE, but not in Firefox or Chrome.

I'm using the latest version of Firefox ESR (24.x.x) and I have noticed that APS has been abysmally slow recently.

I've been getting the jerky loads with Chrome.  Kinda reminded me of loading an ANSI screen.  I was starting to get all nostalgic for Trade Wars, Global Wars, and L.O.R.D.
