Chicago songs similar to 25 or 6 to 4?
« on: February 06, 2007, 08:05:07 PM »
My library of Chicago tunes is limited to the two disc "very best of" collection. 25 or 6 to 4 is one of my favorites, and I was wondering what other songs in their several dozen other albums are similar to the aforementioned song.

I haven't listened to most of Chicago's music, so what songs can you suggest and thus save me a lot of listening? I don't think I want to go and listen to all their albums, plus, it would take a bit of time to be able to do that.

Thanks.
Andy

You might like the album "the heart of chicago", it's another hits compilation. My favorite Chicago song, and a song that has a early chicago feel to it, was "new" to the album, "the only one".

Thanks, Stand-watie. I'll check it out.

Wait, there was a time when Chicago didn't have horns? I thought that band got started when a bunch of horn students got together, dug up a guitarist and whatnot, and decided to try their hand at being a rock band.

old chicago is ok, but they have sucked since 1978.

That was I believe the year guitarist and front man Terry Kath ate a bullet.

If you like 25 or 6 to 4 stick with the early albums. There is not a lot of stuff that sounds just like that song. I hear the early stuff sounds really good when you're stoned also  angel

In the late 80's or early 90's they redid the song, made it more edge-y. I like it better than the original but none of the other newer stuff.

Just great…Chicago politics has spread to all 57 states.

"Chicago 17 got a lot of action for a lot of guys..."

When my wife and I were dating on-and-off, and I was a broke college kid, I took her out for a pizza for her birthday. I had the waitress bring the pizza with a candle on it, and "Color My World" playing on the jukebox.

"Color My World" became the song for our wedding dance.

Damn, that was a long time ago!

Chicago 8 - the first best of album.
Chicago 10 - the chocolate bar album

Early Chicago is definately the best. Started listening to them when I was 12 early 70's.
You might also like Bread and Three Dog Night.
If you like the brass sound, listen to some Blood Sweat and Tears.

For me, Chicago was the "gateway" band that led me to others such as Steely Dan (I still love the Aja album; Black Cow is still put on repeat now and then).

25 or 6 to 4 is also my favorite from Chicago.

However, for song from that era, Rush still takes the cake IMHO.

I saw Three Dog Night in concert a few years ago.  The never sounded better.
