That high-pitched squealing you hear?
« on: February 24, 2007, 07:33:24 AM »
I just did my taxes.

Wow.

My company went public and employees who owned stock got a nice dividend. All I can say is thank God I made an estimated tax payment.

But holy creeping crap, I need tax shelters!

I got the results for my personal taxes from my accountant a few days ago. I'm getting a few dollars back.

I'm sweating the corporate taxes, though. I think I shouldn't owe more than a thousand or so, but sometimes my accountant surprises me.

The worst surprise I had was in 1990. My then-accountant told me that it didn't matter in which month I incorporated. Well, it did matter.

When he gave me my tax returns to sign, I was floored. I owed $30,000 more in personal taxes than I was anticipating.

Needless to say, I had a new accountant by the end of the week.

At least you didn't just blow the money.  You might send a thank you to Schumer, Kennedy, Pelosi et al. and thank them for funding your "assault weapon".  cheesy

Isn't there a joke circulating the internet about a group of people going to the baseball game and it gets rained out.  Rather than simply returning the money, the authorities divvy it up according to need or something.
Here's a perfect example.  Someone who pays no tax nonetheless gets a tax refund.  angry

Rabbi,

It's worth it, if it buys just one assault rifle...

In this case think of it as "militia support".  grin

So you would support a special tax increase to fund assault rifle purchases?

No, but if it's gonna exist anyway, might as well be used for something other than lotto tickets and smokes.  grin

Rabbi,

I paid my share of taxes for many years before being disabled. Most of my SS disability is non taxable.
I didn't get the 3k in child credits since I didn't pay any taxes, and having a home business has tax advantages.
Since the income tax is unconstitutional anyway. I just look at it as getting back all the money the feds stole from me by force in the years I did pay taxes.

I do pay state taxes and real estate taxes (also unconstitutional) and of course sales tax (the one constitutional tax).

Just be glad I'm not on welfare and driving a Caddy.  grin

But you aren't getting money back for taxes you paid in the past.  You are getting money back for taxes you havent paid this year.  More specifically you are getting my money, since I do pay income taxes.  And I don't like it.  And all the faux-arguments against income tax won't help that.

How are those, anyway? I have a 1946 Soviet and also a Polish one. Quality the same?

I'd figured I ought to get them before they get banned. Apparently, some drug dealer did shoot a cop with one in 1999 and nearly compromised his vest, so I expect the Brady Bunch to go after them if they emboldened enough.

I have a polish tok also.
The romy's I received are in excellent condition 1953 all matching with a plumb brown finish.
As good as the pols or possibly better.
The safety is an add-on I think but better placed than the Pols, Chi Com, or Russians.
It is on the left in front of the grip above the mag release.
For me it's a perfect place, right where my thunb is naturally.
I bought 2 with keep one sell one in mind. If they are like the Pols the will double in price in a year or 2. I hope!
