Handy for testing if circuits are live, you don't even need to make contact with the hot circuit, just put it in close proximity and it beeps if it is live. I gave eleven bucks for one at Lowe's a few weeks back, and it is so nice not to have to drag out the multi-meter probes every time I want to check a circuit.

What is the one tester that every electrician should carry in
their pocket or tool pouch? The answer, a Greenlee GT-11
non-contact voltage detector. Greenlee's GT-11 non-contact
voltage detector provides the electrician with AC voltage indicating
capabilities up to 1000V. The GT-11 is also the first
tester to attain a UL safety rating of category IV. Category IV
means the electrician can use the tester in nearly all types of
electrical environments. The GT-11 is also designed for
ruggedness and comfort. The cushioned gripping area helps
to reduce fatigue and the durable design can withstand the
most severe environments. Another feature that makes the
GT-11 unique is the ON/OFF function. With a simple twist of
the cap, the tester is activated and ready to use. To remove
the batteries, just press the lever and twist the cap counterclockwise.
GT-11 performance, safety, and quality all packed into a
pocket-sized tester.

Oh, I just had to use another, handy and inexpensive tool for cleaning electrical contacts...unless you're a girly-man you'll probably need to borrow one of these from your other half grin

Real men carry sharp knives, sandpaper, or files to clean dirty/corroded electrical contacts, not feminine grooming devices...

You buncha wussies. I clean my electrical contacts with one of these. When I'm done I use it to clean under my fingernails.

The guy that did my home inspection had one of those tester things.  That was pretty cool.

I've seen a similar tool at Home Depot, only that tool was contained in one handle of a pair of wire strippers. Pretty cool.
