Well wouldn't it be surplus if it was outdated and no longer viable to use for its orginal intent?
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

that's funny

What I think funny is that they're trying to sell them for about what they sold for originally...   rolleyes

This is the saddest attempt to make a thread out of nothing I have ever seen.

Your flowchart is wrong.

Is there something on the internets?

Yes:  Start a thread about that thing on APS.
No:  Start a thread on APS complaining about the lack of things on the internets.

A shame that my 5 1/4" discs won't fit . . . to say nothing of my 8" discs, but those are getting a bit long in the tooth now . . .

2swap, are 5 1/4 drives still common over there, or are you just old-school?

Yeah, they are! we still use them for our Word 5.0 for DOS files. We also connect to the internet with 300 baud modems and use serial mice for the few applications, which support mice at all. I have heard that lately, the first SVGA graphics cards were shipped to Europe, I want to get one as soon as the price drops below 400€! But I fear they won't come in ISA variants which would mean a too big investment for me!  angry

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Hey 2swap,  If you ever get tired of/update from floppies ask Mike Irwin about disposal methods.

You have got to be kidding me...and $5 each? What are they thinking?

Those things are so flimsy...they don't last for storage of floppys on a desk, much less bouncing around in a vehicle. I seem to recall the lids breaking off and such.

I think I will happily stick with my steel ammo cans (and the newer plastic commercial copies, when I want a can that won't rust...like for my first aid kits)

Jeez. I hope nobody is dumb enough to buy them w/o realizing what they are.

I still have an old computer with a 5 1/4" drive.  Its a Zeos desktop that was made in around 1990 or so.  It came originally with a 386 processor, and it was upgraded to a 486 around 1995 or so.  Thing was built like a brick ****house.

It now serves as a coffee table.

Friend of mine did the wood work.  It still works.  The monitor and keyboard are connected to a separate PC, though.
