Windshield protection

Tommorow I'm finally getting my windshield replaced as it has 5 rock hits and two long cracks.

I've been getting a lot of hits on my front glass in this car and I would like to know if there is a product that I could buy that would protect my windscreen from pitting.

Or perhaps something that would deflect the rocks entirely.

I've tried Googling but all I'm getting is how to protect a towed vehicles windshield.

Thanks,

H2L

Rocks and windshields. The Alaskan national problem. Most folks up here use the clear plastic bug deflectors that mount on the underside of the front of the hood. They aren't perfect, but they do deflect smaller rocks and gravel depending on how fast you are going. The faster you're going the better they work. Don't know who manufactures them, but most places that sell aftermarket vehicle accessories will have them.
Be careful that the toes you step on now aren't connected to the ass you have to kiss later.

That sounds like a good idea to me. I found the tear off type that the NASCAR guys use:

But I don't know how easy it would be to clean the bugs off in between tear offs. Although I doubt anyone would notice it also says illegal for street use.

Here are some 3M offerings but they are oriented toward homes.
