What (and how) do you carry in your pockets?
« on: January 02, 2008, 03:54:43 AM »
Recently I've been looking into adding a small flashlight into the "stuff I carry in my pockets" category.  As it stands, however, I have no room for such an addition.  In my left front pocket, I have a KelTec P3AT.  In my right front pocket I have my wallet, cell phone, keys, and knife (clipped to the edge of the pocket).

I'm thinking about shifting my wallet to my back pocket, but that was always very uncomfortable for me.  What do you guys think?  What do you carry on your person, and how do you distribute it?  I'm considering going IWB with my Sig P239, but I haven't found a comfortable way to do so that doesn't print when I sit or stand.

Thanks!

Pickpockets love it. They're damned fast at getting wallets out of back pockets after a collision with you or other distraction.

Wrap a big rubber band around your wallet if you keep it in your back pocket.

It provides drag and makes it impossible for someone to pick your pocket.

Never thought about that.

I keep my billfold in my back pocket except when traveling and then I go to a traveler's purse thing that I wear around my neck and under my shirt.

I always have a folding knife in my front pocket except when going to buildings with metal detectors. I usually have a snubnose .38 in my right pocket when go places I can legally carry according to my CCW.

Right front pocket, double magazine pouch holds two spare mags.  Cellphone.  Right front pocket, folder and keys.  IWB right side, KelTec P3AT.  left rear pocket, wallet.

Not much.  Wallet in right front pocket-except when I'm hiking-then a 642 goes in RF pocket and wallet goes in LF.  Folder clipped to pants @ 3 o'clock, comb in RR, keys and sometimes a cellphone and maybe some change and a Blistex or Chapstick LF.  Unless I'm wearing a jacket, then cell goes in jacket pocket.

I'm NOT a secret agent.

That would require a completely different pocket load out.

I usually have a jacket or other overgarment on.

In my trousers I have a challenge coin and folder in RF.

Cash and cards in left front.

Left jacket pocket has the light and house key, right jacket has the OC and car keys, left inside pocket has a hankey, business cards and a pen.  right inside pocket usually has a notebook and lighter.

Gun, ammo and phone is on the belt typically.

I got one of those "biker" wallets with a stout chain on it which is attached to a stout key ring holder on my stout belt on my stout person.

No, I'm not a biker.  But I used to be.  I owned a screamin' Kawasaki JTRL-50.  Once.

Left front tissues for my runny nose, left rear nothing, right rear wallet with aformentioned chain, right front pocket, lighter, chapstick, coinage.

If pocket carrying, everything except the wallet gets rotated counterclockwise 90 degrees and the .380 goes in right front pocket sans holster.  (After turning the pocket inside out and giving it a good shaking to clean it out.)

Any other time I'm packing the 1911.

How do people do that?  I have attempted to carry various knives in that manner, but without success.  It makes the pocket useless for anything else.  When I reach into the pocket, it's hard to pull anything out, without my hand pushing the knife out with it.  Some knives scratch my hand up, just trying to get my hand in the pocket in the first place.  I don't have fat hands, nor are they especially large.  What gives?

For some years, I have carried fixed-blade knives in the same position in my front pocket, with the end of the handle sticking out.  And that works out pretty well.

Wallet in rear right pocket. Keys w/ flashlight and spare change in right front pocket, with a knife of some sort clipped to the edge. Left front has a lighter and my contacts case. Since I usually wear carpenter jeans, I have a notepad and pen/s in the lower thigh pocket. Cellphone and Leatherman are on my belt.
