Lost my Mom to colon cancer
« on: August 04, 2021, 07:00:47 AM »
Sadly, yesterday my Mom lost her nearly 4 year long battle with colon cancer. Despite chemo and radiation - which slowed the spread - there were finally too many organs involved and at the hospital her condition kept deteriorating until she fell into an unresponsive sleep and didn't wake up. A petite but very strong woman, she went through a lot these past 4 years including a very painful osteoporotic stress fracture of the lower back (think sciatica on steroids) and kept coming back . . . until now. She was mentally sharp as a tack, took care of her own personal needs herself, and maintained her unfailingly good humor until the very end. I'll miss her a lot.

She was 92.

So sorry to hear of your loss.  It sounds like she fought the good fight with grace.

I just spent a year and a half with my wife and colon cancer.  She survived but will never be the same.  Your Mom must have been a strong woman to bear 4 years of battle.  Cherish the memories.  I will pray for peace for you and your family.

92 years is a good run. I'm very sorry for your loss, but I'm glad that she maintained her faculties for all those years.

My sincerest condolences and empathy, Hank. Your mom sounded like a very strong woman to battle four years of cancer, especially, as it seems, staying in good humor through the ordeal. At least after all that pain, she had a peaceful passing in her sleep. Stay strong, my friend.

Sorry to hear that.

My parents are in their late 70's so I worry it will happen eventually.  Hopefully they will get at least that far.  I just try to visit as often as I can.

So sorry for your loss, Hank.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

So, sorry, you have our condolences.  Lost my mom almost a year ago, too.  She was 91.

My heartfelt condolences Hank.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
