for the big chill,
i set my shelled buddies up with a mulch pile
covered with corrigated tin to keep the water off
and a foot or two of leaves on top for insulation

feed them well in September/October till they stop eating
they will go to ground and reappear in the spring

didja know that a ravaging pack of box turtles will devour an ex robin in 10 minutes?
