In an underground training room, security training supervisor Lt. Zach Hamann demonstrated how he put security trainees through their paces, part of a four-month-long required training regiment, Reynolds said.
"This is a safe place,"
Holy hell. It's like giving a loaded gun to a chimpanzee...
the last thing you need is rabies. You're already angry enough as it is.OTOH, there wouldn't be a tweeker left in Georgia...
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! AND THROW SOME STEAK ON THE GRILL!
Uh, no, it isn't. I regard any concentration of people as an unsafe place. Too juicy of a target for a whackjob to resist. even a well trained, well equipped, armed security force would not make me feel safe.
Hawkmoon - Never underestimate another person's capacity for stupidity. Any time you think someone can't possibly be that dumb ... they'll prove you wrong.
Viking - The problem with the modern world is that there aren't really any predators eating stupid people.
Yeah, still surprised we haven't seen a coordinated attack on a couple or three malls across the country on a day like Black Friday or any other day for that matter.
The Jihadis aren't the criminal masterminds people on gunboards make them out to be and the govt does do some things right some of the time.Chris
I think it is one thing to have a single nut job work himself into killing other people. It is quite another to have a group of nut jobs together in the same place do it. And they have to motivate themselves to do it, plan it, and get the guns to do it. All without alerting authorities to their plan. I imagine that takes a dedicated group who is quiet enough or smart enough not to alert authorities.
You mean, it's almost as hard as getting a group of nut jobs together, motivating them, planning, and getting training all while not alerting the authorities to their plant to hijack 4 planes at the same time and fly them into different targets?
The authorities were alerted, they ignored the warning signs. It was also a hail mary pass. It's been 13+ years and hasn't been duplicated since. The few feeble attempts were squashed by citizens in the airplanes (shoe and underwear bombers).Chris
It would be easy enough if a group were to stay off the cell phones and internet and do all of the planning in meat space.
I think even Stephen Hunter wrote a book about somalis attacking the Mall of America.I am surprised it hasn't happened with how its a big juicy target.
It sounds easy enough, but probably isn't so easy in practice. Herding cats comes to mind. One or two individuals is much more likely. The larger the group, the less likely they will stay quiet. As said above, it has happened, I just think it is difficult and rare as history has shown.
